The Export of UK Tyres - Not sustainable" says ETRA (European tyre recycling Association)

Your tyres aren't necessarily disposed of legally even if your tyre/waste collector has a waste carriers license. 100,000 Tyres found illegally stored in Lincolnshire recently (see attached article) were collected by licensed carriers throughout the UK, baled and transported to Lincoln supposedly for 'Export'! Although, this never happened, and once those responsible had pocketed the cash, the tyres were abandonned. Not exported! not recycled! not re-used! Just dumped for someone else to deal with.
The trade in Tyre Export is governed by strict guide lines and many UK waste tyres don't fit the export criteria and those trying to export find difficulty tapping into an already stretched market. ETRA reports that the demand for exported tyres is waning and dependency on export as a method of managing the UKs waste tyres is unsustainable, particularly when taking into account the unfeasibly low collection fees charged and the cost of transportation to Export Docks!
At S W Tyre & Rubber Recyclers - We turn your waste tyres into safe useable products. Recycling is the only truly sustainable way to dispose of our UK waste tyres.

The Environment Agency recently urged landowners to be mindful of their responsibilities and wary of the use of their land after two were forced to pay for the removal of 100,000 tyres and 3,000 cubic metres of plastic bales respectively from their properties in Lincolnshire.
